What is Men’s General Health Check?
A Men’s General Health Check is a bit like a service on your car, it makes sure everything is running smoothly and as it should be. Like car maintenance, health is best achieved through prevention rather than waiting till you get sick. The optimal time for men to look at preventable risk factors is around the age 35-50. Chances are, men are pretty healthy and feel fine, but there maybe silent killers developing such as cardiovascular disease. During a Men’s Health Check one of our doctors will assess you for conditions such as risk of diabetes and diabetes symptoms, prostate, erectile dysfunction and sexual health dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, common mental health issues such as depression and anxiety and screening for bowel cancer. These are just some of the things that are covered during a Men’s Health Check. It provides you with an opportunity to discuss any queries or concerns that you may have and fix things before they are broken; Prevention is always better than a cure!
Who should have a Men’s General Health Check?
If you 35-55 years old and haven’t ever had a health assessment, then a Men’s Health Check is the perfect answer for you! In the busy world that we live in today, often our health comes second, which is why it is extremely important to have a Men’s General Health Check to ensure that you are running as healthy as you can be. Risk factors can be non-modifiable i.e. genetic. There isn’t much you can do about your genes, but just by identifying an increased risk as a result of family, you can take steps to reduce the risk e.g. taking a statin for raised cholesterol if cardiovascular disease runs in the family. Most risk factors, however, are modifiable and these are in your control! Lifestyle issues such as diet, exercise regime, alcohol and drug are all under your control. Sometime s you need help though to achieve your goals. During the Men’s Health Check, we will help you set achievable goals and support you to get to where you want to be. Add life to years………..
